Missouri’s legislature is now the 8th state to pass a “heartbeat bill” and some, like Alabama and Georgia, have passed an outright abortion ban. Conservative legislatures and anti abortion groups, in a matter of weeks, have blitzed the legality of abortions and are looking to gather momentum to ultimately bring the case to the Supreme Court.
The appointment of Kavanaugh was seen as a tipping point for abortion opponents to revitalize their efforts in fighting abortion and bringing it to the Supreme Court. Their hope is that Kavanaugh will be the vote that challenges the constitutional right of Roe v. Wade.
