There are hundreds of state boards and commissions in California with functions that vary greatly. For example, some direct professional and occupational licensing programs; some administer state and federal funds in areas such as the arts, education, economic development, environmental protection and social services; some have quasi-judicial and policy-making responsibilities; some provide advisory assistance to state agencies and still others are created to study and report on public policy issues.
Periodically, NWPC-OC facilitates seminars to educate you on the process.
In these workshops, candidates will learn:
- How the appointment process works
- How to locate boards and commissions that are right for you
- How to develop a strategy for getting appointed
- How to get started on your own process of getting appointed
