Melissa Fox

melissa-smile-02.jpgMelissa Fox is an Orange County native, business owner, attorney, wife, mother, volunteer, veterans’ advocate and dedicated community leader.

Melissa currently serves as a Commissioner on the City of Irvine Community Services Commission, which advises the City on Irvine’s parks, recreational, cultural, and youth facilities and programs.

As a member of the Community Services Commission, Melissa has fought to ensure that developers provide ample open space and park and recreation facilities for both children and adults, for increased childcare, to improve and expand the Gratitude and Honor Memorial remembering the fallen heroes of the War on Terrorism, and to ensure that our seniors have state-of-the-art recreation and healthcare facilities.

She has championed creating more active and public transportation choices in Irvine as a means of reducing traffic congestion, and has also been Irvine’s most public advocate for more and safer bicycling, for both recreation and commuting.

Melissa believes that one of the many blessings that have come to Irvine as a result of our great cultural diversity is the extraordinary number of wonderful locally-owned restaurants featuring cuisine from around the globe.  For that reason, Melissa created and leads the Irvine Food Tour, where a local restaurant’s owner or chef selects the menu and explains the food.  So far, Melissa has led Irvine Food Tour visits to Japanese, Chinese, Hawaiian, Vietnamese, Persian and Middle Eastern restaurants, as well as to 99 Ranch Supermarket and Bread Farm Bakery and Café.  Melissa believes that the Irvine Food Tour is also a great way to support local businesses and to help connect local business owners with the community.

She is the founder and lead attorney of the Melissa Fox Law Firm in Irvine and has practiced business, corporate and commercial law in Orange County for 20 years, advising large and small businesses, as well as organizations and individuals. She has also earned a California real estate broker’s license.

She is a member of the Bars of the State of California and the United States Tax Court, and a graduate of Brandeis University and Tulane University School of Law. Her specialty is fighting fraud.

In addition to her service on the Irvine Community Services Commission, Melissa participates in many professional and community organizations, including the Irvine Chamber of Commerce.

Melissa has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Beckman High School Football Boosters and Beckman High School Wrestling Boosters, and serves as an adult volunteer with the Sea Scouts (a co-ed program of the Boy Scouts of America) at the Dana Point Sea Base. Melissa also served in the Orange County Parks Ranger Reserve.

The daughter of a Korean War combat veteran, Melissa has been active in advocating for increased City support for veterans, particularly those recently returning from deployment and has called for the creation of a Irvine Veterans Advisory Committee, so that veterans have a strong voice of their own in City government.  She has also been honored by the Orange County Veterans Memorial Park for her “steadfast support for the Southern California Veterans Cemetery.”

Melissa lives with her husband, Dr. Michael Fox, their teenage son, Max, and their Siberian Husky, Scout, in the Northpark community of Irvine.
