Alice Walker

Alice Walker is the author of The Color Purple, which made her the first African American woman to win a Pulitzer Prize for fiction. Walker also coined the term womanist, which is a social theory based on the history and experiences of black women and other women of color. In total, she has written seventeen novels and short story collections, twelve non-fictions works, and various collections of essays and poetry.
