Stacey Abrams

Stacey Abrams is an American politician who has been a force of nature in the fight for voting rights. In 2018, Abrams became the first black female gubernatorial nominee in the United States for the state of Georgia. In her run for governor against incumbent Brian Kemp, she lost by 50,000 votes. Kemp’s office was eventually found guilty of violating the Help America Vote Act, but Abrams did not ultimately take legal action against the results. Instead, she launched Fair Fight Action, a nonprofit organization that addresses voter suppression.
